Overland Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2024 Overland Kailash Yatra takes you to the holy land of Mt. Kailash & Mansarovar Lake through the newly opened Nepal-Tibet border of Rasuwagadhi – Kyirong. This route started as an alternative route from September 2017. This Yatra has made easily accessible from the out skirts of Nepal. The team of Sunrise Kailash Pvt. Ltd will embark on a journey to take you to worship and hike around the sacred land of Mt. Kailash. Kailash Overland Tour starts with a sightseeing tour at the capital city of Nepal. During our guided sightseeing tour we visit UNESCO listed word heritage sites (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa & Budhanilkantha) inside valley. Then next day we start up Yatra early morning by drive from Kathmandu, we will get ourselves inside the Langtang National Park and cross the Nepal – Tibet border to arrive at Kyirong from Kyirong. Day by Day we will drive to the villages of Saga, Mansarovar and Darchen with great views of the sacred Mt. Kailash, Mt. Gurla – Mandala, Rakshash Lake and the Lake Mansarovar. The major attractions of this tour include the sacred peak of Mount Kailash, holy Lake Mansarovar, Yamdwar, the highest pass of Dolma La (5500 meter) and Gauri Kund. The Kailash Overland Tour takes 14 days for completion based on our default itinerary. The trip can be tailored as you and your preference. The best time to visit the holy Mt.Kailash is between May to August.
Important highlights
- Of the total 53 km Kailash Parikrama / Kora/round includes 38 km involves walk/trek from Yamdwar to Chongdo. It is also possible to hire pony and local porter for 4 days. There aren’t any car/bus and jeep service available.
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date.
- There are no temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in Tibet but at Khojarnath there is a temple of Lord Ram, Sita & Laxman.
- The route is as follows: Hor – Chiu Gompa (Nearby Manasarovar Lake)- Darchen – Yamdwar – Darchen – Hor. Environmentally sound blue bus is used compulsorily for traveling which are available at Nangri Tourism of Bureau in Darchen.
- Every Yatri must have Life, Medical, Rescue Jeep or Helicopter insurance before getting enrolled in Kailash Tour. Get insurance in your home country.

03/06 Day 13 Kerung Valley – Saga (100 KMS 05 HRS.)
On this day, we drive from Kerung to Saga. The drive which takes 5- 6 hours goes past Salt Lake with beautiful views of Tibetan landscape and its nomadic communities. Warm lunch box will be served on the way. Eventually you will dross the Yarlung Sangpo (Brahmaputra) River before reaching Saga. Dinner and Overnight in Saga.
04/06 Day 14 Saga – Mansarovar Lake (450 KMS 08 HRS.)
Drive from Saga to Manasarovar Lake: By the afternoon, you can have the first sight of Holy Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar Lake from Hor. After quick lunch begin the rotation or kora of Mansarovar Lake completing it in about 2-3 hours’ time. En route you will come upon different Monasteries finally reaching at Chiu Gompa. Overnight in Manasarovar Lake. Full moon night in Manasarovar.
05/06 Day 15 Mansarovar Lake – Darchen (40 KMS 01 HRS)
In the Morning to bathing in outside of Manasarovar Lake. Our staff will be fix bathing tent and bring holy water from Manasarovar Lake for bath all Yatri. After bath, Some are doing meditating and others reciting the names of their ancestral gods, performing the Hawan (offering grains mixed with purified butter to the fire) in the name of gods and ancestors, in order to relieve themselves from any known or unknown sins. They exchange happiness on the completion of Pooja and Aarati (Butter lamps). After all ritual finished. Take lunch and drive to Darchen.
06/06 Day 16 Darchen – Yamdwar – Dirapuk
Drive from Darchen to Yam Dwar. (Yam Dwar is Gate for the god of death). Your trekking/ walking around Mt. Kailash starts from Yamdwar. Those who are unable to walk can hire pony & local porter for 4 days but you must inform us while at Mansarovar Lake, so Tibetan Guide can manage it for you. The trek will continue for about 5 to 6 hours until we arrive at Dirapuk. From Dirapuk you can see the north face of Mt. Kailash very much closer. It looks as Lord Shiva himself is staying there. You will visit North face of Mt. Kailash and touching the feet of Mt. Kailash (Charan Sparsh). Travelers who do not want to trek around (Parikrama) Kailash can go back to Darchen and wait for rest of the group to arrive from Parikarma. Overnight stay at Dirapuk mud house.
07/06 Day 17 Dirapuk – Zuthulpuk (4790 KMS – 21 KMS)
This is an important day as we have to pass Dolma La or Dorma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above the sea level. Weather is unpredictable with imminent snowstorm so it’s important to

Day 01: Arrival Delhi
As soon as you arrive at Indira Gandi International Airport in Delhi, our staff will welcome you and escort you to the Hotel followed. Dinner & Overnight stay will be at Delhi.
Day 02: Arrival Kathmandu
After breakfast check – out from the hotel and drive to Delhi airport to board the flight to Kathmandu. As soon as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our staff will welcome you and escort you to the Hotel followed. Dinner & Overnight stay will be at Kathmandu.
Day 03 Kathmandu –- Manokamna- Pokhra
After breakfast check – out from the hotel and drive to Pokhra via Manokamna Temple. The Manakamana Temple is located 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) above the sea level in the Kafakdada Hill which sits in the confluence between Trishuli and Marsyangdi. It is approximately 106 kilometres (66 mi) west of Kathmandu, We will go Manakamana temple by Cable Car. After darsan of Manokamna Temple drive to Pokhra. Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Pokhra.

25/05 Day 05 Pokhra
– Jomsom (By Flight or By Road)
After packecd breakfast from the hotel proceed to Pokhra airport, take flight to pokhra to Jomsom, arrival at jomsom check – in to the hotel and take jeep from jomsom to Muktinath base. Arrive at Muktinath and hike 2 km up to the temple.Unable to walk can ride on horses at their own expense. Take a holy bath under 108 Mukti Dhara, 2 Mukti Kundas. Perform ritual activities at Muktinath Temple. Visit Mukteshwor Mahadev Temple, Vishnu Paduka, Swaminarayan Nilkath Varani Meditation Spot, Shree Ramanujacharya Temple, Narshing Monastery, and Jwala Mai Temple. Then, back to Jomsom following the same route. Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Jomsom.
Flight is depend on whether because Jomsom airport is located in a very remote area where the weather must be flying – friendly.
Day 06 Jomsom – Pokhra (By Flight or By Road)
Breakfast at the hotel. Hope there will not be any weather obstacles. As per the flight schedule transfer to the airport, 5 mins walk. Fly back to Pokhara. Arrival and proceed for Sightseeing. Visit Bindabasini Temple, Seti Gorge River, Devi’s Water Fall, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, and Tal Barahi Temple at Fewa Lake. Free evening. Overnight at Pokhara. After morning breakfast & Check – out from the hotel and drive to Chitwan. En route we will stop for Valmiki asram. Later proceed to Chitwan, On arrival at Chitwan, chekc – in to the hotel Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Chitwan.
Day 07 Pokhra – Valmiki Asram – Chitwan
After morning breakfast & Check – out from the hotel and drive to Chitwan. En route we will stop for Valmiki asram. Later proceed to Chitwan, On arrival at Chitwan, check – in to the hotel Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Chitwan.
Day 08 Chitwan – Janakpur
After breakfast check – out from the hotel and drive to Janakpur, On arrival at Janakpur check – in to the hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Janakpur.
Day 09 Janakpur Sightseeing – Kathmandu
Morning proceed to visit Janaki temple, Ram Sita vivah Mandap. Back to Hotel.After breakfast check – out from the hotel and proceed to visit Dhanusha sagar. Back to Janakpur airport for flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu transfer to hotel. Started from this point. Evening briefing Kailash Manasarovar tour and provide Dimox medicine, Duffel bag, small day bag Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Kathmandu
Day 10 Kathmandu Sightseeing
After morning breakfast proceed to Kathmandu sightseeing Pasupathinath temple: Pashupatinath is the most important temple dedicated to god Shiva. Every year this temple attracts hundreds of elderly followers of Hinduism. They arrive here to find shelter for the last several weeks of their lives, to meet death, be cremated on the banks of the river and travel their last journey with the waters of the sacred river Bagmati, which later meets the holy river Ganges. Visit Gujeswari / Guyeshori Shaktipith temple. Among Astha Matrilas (Eight mother Goddesses) she mother of all. She is worshiped by Hindu and Buddhist both. According to Pauranik Katha Hindu legend. Lord Shiva’s 1st consort SATI DEVI offered by some insult of her husband Shiva dropped herself into YAGYAAKUND (A religious fire ceremony) Load Shiva’s retrieved her, fire burned corpse senseless him by grief and flew to and fro across Nepal and the Indian subcontinent. SATI DEVI’s body scattered in 51 Saktipith. Gujeshori is a place where her secret part (GOPYA) vagina, some says her anus fell to which we call Guyeshori. She protects deities of Kathmandu valley as well. Back to hotel and take vegetarian buffet lunch. Budhanilkantha: After noon around 2:00 PM start sightseeing with holy guide to Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) Vishnu Temple located in Budhanilkantha, Nepal, is a Hindu open air temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Budhanilkantha Temple is situated below the Shivapuri Hill at the northern end of the Kathmandu valley & can be identified by a large reclining statue of Lord Vishnu. Buddhist Temple Bouddha: Named after its immense stupa, Buddha is a pilgrimage destination for Tibetans. Devotees stroll around the gleaming white dome adorned with painted Buddha eyes and visit nearby monasteries and schools for prayers and seminars.
Day 11 Kathmandu – Dhunche or Syabrubesi (130 KMS 06 HRS. 2000 M)
Today, this will be the first day of Yatra. We travel from Kathmandu to Dhunche or Syabrubesi (Nepal) 130 km and further to Nepal Tibet border on a private tourist coach. It takes 6 to 7 hours’ drive to reach from Dhunche or Syabrubesi Kathmandu., Find here standard hotels and lodges with fine Nepali and Indian cuisine for tourists and Kailash yatri.
Day 12 Dhunche or Syabrubesi – Kerung valley
Kerung valley Tibet is our next destination. Our entire visa and passport will be checked at Nepal immigration office at Ghatte Khola. After completing immigration formalities, we continue driving or walking for 15 minutes to Rasuwagadi bridge and then cross the friendship bridge to Nepal Tibet. Your visas will be checked at Tibetan immigration office one by one. Once immigration formalities will be completed then our Tibet guide will receive you with needful travel permit for Kailash Manasarovar tour/Yatra. He will deal with all the immigration formalities and take you via Tibetan bus / van or Jeep to Kerung valley. Kerung valley is 24km start our journey as early as possible. Following the pass, we need to go steep down till Shapje Datok and then onto Zuthulpuk monastery. Again, our night stay will be at a mud house or guest house.
Day 13 Kerung Valley – Saga (100 KMS 05 HRS.)

Day 18 Zuthulpuk – Saga
After our breakfast we walk down to Chongdo for about 2 hours and then drive to Darchen After short trek and reach to the point where the coach will be waiting and drive to Darchen and merge with other members who were waiting and drive to Sage. Overnight stay at Saga.
Day 19 Sage – Kerung (100 KMS 05 HRS.)
Drive from Saga to Kerung for 5 to 6 hours. It will be last night stay at Kerung in Tibet side.
Day 20 Kerung – Kathmandu
Drive from Kerung to Kathmandu. After our breakfast, we drive to Nepal-China Friendship Bridge near Rasuwagadi. Passing through customs and immigration formalities on both Tibet and Nepal side, we continue our drive to Kathmandu for about 7/8 hours. In Kathmandu you will be dropped to your hotel. You will have your lunch on the way back to Kathmandu.
Day 21 Kathmandu Departure
You will be taken to Airport from hotel for final departure.
